How to Measure Your Dog
Measuring Your Dog for a Hug Me Harness™
To get the best fit for your dog:
- Make sure your dog is standing upright in a natural, neutral position.
- Wrap a tape measure around the mid-torso, a few centimetres behind the front legs (not directly behind them where the chest is widest).
- This ensures the harness won’t interfere with your dog’s front leg movement.
- No neck measurement is needed — the neck area of our Hug Me Harness™ is fully adjustable.
📏 Tip: If you don’t have a tape measure, use a piece of string and a ruler.

🐾 Note: Weight is an approximate guide only — girth measurement is the most accurate. Dachshunds and other small breeds can vary greatly in shape and weight.
If ordering an underbelly buckle, please include your dog’s chest measurement at checkout so we can make sure it fits securely.

Measuring Your Dog for a Royal Polartec® Romper or Royal Tee
Our Rompers and Tees are carefully designed to provide a comfortable, lean fit that helps keep your pup’s front legs securely in place without restricting movement. The fabric has a gentle stretch, allowing for a snug or slightly relaxed fit depending on your dog’s build.
- Measure neck, chest, and length while your dog stands upright.
- Compare your dog’s measurements with the chart below.
- If your pup is between sizes, choose based on whether you prefer a closer or looser fit.

✅ Pro Tip: Always measure twice for the best fit. A properly fitted harness or romper should be snug but not tight, allowing full range of movement without slipping off.
